Today / December and 2013





Here are some things to help out for home studies with the Colors and Shapes unit we have been working on.

Today we are going to do some matching games and color games as well as painting or coloring depending on the way everyone is dressed.

I decided to hold off on ABC and 123 as a group until we begin another unit.
December i" More or Less " Counting and collecting with dance, art,  music and signing activities. 
We will include the usual  folkmanis puppets for this unit .


December 17th is paint your own tea cup for 10 $ . Or tile for hanging on the wall or using as a hot plate. That is $5
The 10 is included in the class fee but if you want another tea cup you will need to order it extra $10 and the hot plate is extra $5
All are just like the ones we use for our tea party.

Dec 3 is a Birthday Party for Mia at the Muse.
I believe that Erin is opening up the Muse for me that day. :)
and also the following week Erin Fitzpatrick will be opening the Muse for class as well.
I will return for the 17th class and the 24th day for the last parts of pick up for ceramics 
The 31st I am not sure is we are having class. I have to ask everyone if they want to come that day or not?

The Internet has a lot of really good ASL sites that help me out when I am stuck on a word

It only takes a few times of looking up the sign before you start to get it. Sometimes only one time.

I have someone working on creating our own ASL Sign and Sing Flash Cards for next year 
I am so grateful for the turn out that I have had for Sign and Sing.

The money has gone back into our program to create fun activities and materials for the kids to use.

I am building up the base for more and more nice materials such as more chairs and lower tables also more puppets and a puppet theater.



I am bringing in special guests for children and parent entertainment in 2013

And I would love referrals of other musicians who are recording and working with children , music dance and theater. 

The Sign and Sing kids will be doing 2 short plays this year in 2013 as well. 
To begin in the Spring time TBA

How to Make Your Own Crawling Baby Game

Waiting for and finally watching your baby crawl are proud moments for parent and child. With a mobile or close-to-mobile baby, you have the opportunity to create fun experiences that challenge your child yet let him succeed. Encourage her crawling through your interactions and several homemade games.

Instructions

    • 1
      Collect empty water bottles or large 2-liter bottles to create roller toys that will encourage baby to crawl.
    • 2
      Fill the bottles with dried beans, beads or any other small items that will make a lot of noise when shaken. Glue and tape the bottles shut.
    • 3
      Place pieces of colorful yarn or glitter in a bottle filled with water.
    • 4
      Cut two large bottles in half and remove the top (spout) sections. Fill the bottom halves with colorful items like bouncy balls and jingle bells. Glue and tape the two bottoms together to create a toy.
    • 5
      Place the baby on the floor, tummy-down. Giving your baby "tummy-time" allows him to develop the muscles needed for crawling.
    • 6
      Put the homemade toys in front of your baby to encourage her to scoot or crawl to reach the object. Allow him to reach the toys and experience success---do not continually move the objects out of reach. Praise her accomplishments as you play this interactive game.
    • 7
      Add obstacles to your game as he masters crawling. Large pillows, couch cushions, cardboard boxes and, most excitingly, your body offer challenges for baby to crawl over.

Tips & Warnings

  • Make sure your environment is baby-proofed and you closely supervise baby during tummy and crawling times. Always check the homemade toys to make sure the small pieces are securely contained.
  • Do not push baby to engage in games that she is not interested in. Pushing baby can actually cause delays in crawling development, according to Dr. Alan Greene.
  • Some babies skip crawling altogether. Make sure to discuss developmental concerns with your baby's pediatrician, but crawling is not indicative of future development.
